Our milk lab at Eastern Wisconsin DHIC analyzes 65,000 milk samples per month for the dairyman in Eastern Wisconsin. All samples are analyzed for fat, protein, lactose, solids and somatic cell contents. Somatic cell has always been a key component in milk that is returned to the dairyman for management decisions. Reducing somatic cell in milk will increase premiums paid by the milk plants to the dairyman. A herd of 100 cows averaging 70 lbs. of milk per day qualifying for a $0.50 premium will increase total farm revenue over $10,500 per year. Monitoring fat and protein contents in the milk will allow a dairyman to reach peak feed efficiency for the milking herd. So allow us to analyze your milk and help you increase your profitability today.
